Hello Old Friend...

Been crazy busy...

We still haven't completely recovered from our CHA trip.  I still have a huge pile of catalogs to go through, as well as  a memory card full of photos and a report of new products to write for Go. Be Creative.

We had a great time at the GoBe Awards this past Sunday...more information will be posted on the GBC blog soon, including all the winners!

To top it off, this week was the science fair at my school, of which I am the coordinator...true exhaustion.

I'm finally getting a chance this evening to go through and catch up on my favorite blogs...

Ali Edwards has a great mini book project here that I am looking forward to working on this coming weekend.  She even has the instructions available to download in .pdf format on her blog.  And, OMG, you have to check out Cathy Zielske's short story tag book idea here.  I definitely want to try this one out!  She has the templates for the tags downloadable from the blog post as well.

Jessica Sprague has a cute mini book download here too.

I have a famous friend!  Jennifer has had a snippet published in March's Creating Keepsakes magazine!  Congratulations Jennifer!!

And I must, must, must share my excitement for my buddy Tam.  She has been doodling her little heart out and created a beautiful Etsy store - Whatchamadoodles.  Here are some photos of her beautiful products:

She has already had several sales - and I'm just so stinking excited for her!  Way to go, Tam!  Now - everyone else - get over there and buy some stuff! ;)

Past my bedtime, now...I'm going to listen to the rest of Lain Ehmann's podcast, Scraphappy,  and then hit the sack.

I <3 Mickey!

Well, Brett and I are exhausted! But we had a good time at Disneyland. Small...not as much as Disneyworld, but it was fun anyway. We got some great pictures, and really loved just being together at the happiest place on Earth.

Here are a few pictures:

I'm about to head over to do my hair and get ready for the day...today is the first day of CHA! I'll be sure to check back in later today with some awesome pictures!

We're in Anaheim!

Well, we're here...in Anaheim, CA. Getting here wasn't the most pleasant experience, but when I woke up this morning and realized that I was in California, it didn't matter anymore!

We left our house at about 3:15 yesterday, racing to BWI to catch our plane at 5:10. We flew for 2 hours to Nashville, then 4 more hours to Los Angeles. Wow. I personally have never been on an airplane for that long and I can truly say from the bottom of my heart that it sucked.

Once we landed at LAX, we were overjoyed! We walked off the plane, and lo and behold...what is there waiting for me?

That made it a little better.

So, we walked through the airport (which is beautiful, by the way) down to get our bags. I got a kick out of the baggage carousel - one of those cool slanted ones like in Jerry Maguire. I know, I'm a dork.

Once our bags were retrieved, we headed out to the shuttle service to catch the Disneyland bus to Anaheim. At this point it was 9:30 pm CST, which was really 12:30 for us.

Well, the bus comes every hour on the 1/2 hour (who knew?) so we just missed it...and had to wait around until 10:30. Yay.

Finally, the bus comes...we get on...proceed to stop at like 10 other stops at the airport, then head to Anaheim.

By the time we checked into our hotel and made it up to our room it was 1:00 am CST, which was really 4:00 am for us.

Now, it's 6:30 am CST...and I'm wide awake. Excitement? I'm sure...but I'm thinking a lot of it has to do with the fact that it's really 9:30 and...who sleeps that late???

So I'm drinking the terrible coffee in the hotel room, catching you all up...then I'll shower and dress and we're heading to Disneyland today! Not before we hit the local IHOP, though!

And, seriously...who can be mad when they look out their hotel room window and see this:

I'll check back soon!

So much to do!

The whirlwind otherwise known as CHA is looming in the distance...three more days until we leave.

I have so much to do in the meantime!  And my weekly routine is not very forgiving.  Faculty meeting...smoking cessation class (Thursday is quit day!!)...religious school classes for the boys...

And come to find out, our flight leaves at 5:10 on Friday evening...that means, come home from work at 3, change very quickly, and head out to the airport!  So everything has to be done before I leave for work!  No last minute packing here!!!

ACK!

Where's that paper bag when you need it????

One little word...my word of the year.

Ali Edwards chooses a word every year.  She actually promotes it on her blog, with lists and lists of words to choose from so that everyone can choose THEIR word.

Well, I searched and searched through trying to find the one word that meant the most to me, and I think I hit it.

cre·ate·                     (krē āt; often krēāt′)

transitive verb

  1. to cause to come into existence; bring into being; make; originate; esp., to make or design (something requiring art, skill, invention, etc.)
  2. to bring about; give rise to; cause new industries create new jobs
  3. to invest with a new rank, function, etc.
  4. to be the first to portray (a particular role in a play)

How serendipitous that One Little Word would feature CREATE this week?

Here is my layout for the challenge:

Challenge for How Much is Too Much...

Being in a creative slump for the past few months, I've been stalking blogs looking for challenges that may kick me back to the creative place I want to be.

I found this challenge on How Much is Too Much and had to do it!

The challenge?  To use 50 of one item on a layout.

And here it is...50 buttons, all hand-sewn.  I love it!
